Grouse and Woodcock Hunting

The Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) is Pennsylvania’s State bird. Woodcock (Scolopax minor) are migratory birds that range from Canada to the southern border of the USA. Our area in the Allegheny mountains holds good hunting opportunities for these prized game birds.

Grouse and Woodcock hunters must possess a valid Pennsylvania Hunting License and Tag(s)

PA Licenses available for purchase at many outdoor retailers.

Hunting Seasons

Grouse Season (2 daily, 6 in possession)

  • October 15–November 25, 2022 not including Sundays, except Sunday November 13 and 20, 2022 hunting is permitted.
  • December 12–23, 2022 Not including Sundays.

Woodcock Season (3 daily, 9 in possession)

  • October 15-November 25, 2022
  • December 12-21, 2022

Snipe Season, (8 daily, 24 in possession.)

  • October 15- 25, 2022
  • December 12 – 21, 2022

Packages

Full day hunt

  • 1 or 2 Hunters + 1 Guide Package
  • $550*
  • Includes Lunch, additional hunters can be added up to four for an extra $100 a person

Half day hunt

  • 1 or 2 Hunters + 1 Guide Package
  • $400*
  • Additional hunters can be added up to four for an extra $75 a person

All Grouse/Woodcock hunts include guide and dogs (or you are welcome to bring your own dog), lunch for full day hunts, bird cleaning or packaging for taxidermy and field transportation from the lodge.

Blast and Cast Packages

3-day regular season bird hunt and two 4-hour afternoon fishing trips.

  • 1 hunter + 1 guide package: $1225*
  • 2 hunters + 1 guide package: $975* per person
  • 3 hunters + 1 guide package: $950* per person

All Blast and Cast Packages include 3 days of guided bird hunting on our 2700-acre private ranch, bird cleaning or packaging for taxidermy, lunch each day and field transportation to and from lodge.

Additional Information

All Grouse, Woodcock and Turkey hunters must possess a valid Pennsylvania Hunting License, and Woodcock hunters must also possess a valid Migratory Game Bird License (HIP).

All offsite fishing requires a valid Pennsylvania Fishing License – PA Licenses available for purchase online at www.pa.wildlifelicense.com.
